Let's do it Memphis style!

(K) Hello loyal blog readers. We had a great day today. First we hit up Graceland, which was just as tacky as one could imagine although I think both Rob and I got some awesome decorating tips. I learned a lot about Elvis that I didn't know, including the fact that he was quite the humanitarian (he donated tons of money to local charities thoughout his career) so that made me like him more. Then we traveled to our Priceline Memphis hotel (half-price 2 1/2 star, baby!), ate some awesome ribs at Rendezvous, and saw tons of live music on Beale St. Memphis has tons of culture and is a really "American" city. Ribs and Blues. And fat people. My feeling on Memphis is that it is a perfect place to visit for a day or two but I feel like we experienced most of it in our short time here. Tomorrow we head across Arkanasas into Oklahoma, and maybe Texas, if we're feeling ambitious.

Also, Graceland was a goldmine for license plates. I think we're up to 41 AND WE FOUND HAWAII!!!! I can almost taste 50...

(R) Yo. Today was almost a perfect day, excpet for the coffee at the Holiday Inn Express-NASTY. I'm giving a shout out to the waffle house. Nice hashbrowns. The workers there seemed a little down or trapped or dejected. It really felt like they had been working there 35 years and are waiting for someone or something to come and save them. Graceland was awesome! The best part was the actual house (see pics). I was definitely inspired. Elvis had great taste...yelllow leather is the best! We had our first BBQ in the south...spectacular. Dry rub....you can't find ribs like this on the east/west coast. Also, we had an appetizer of sausage (sliced and smoked), cheese (rectangulared), peppers and pickles. That was almost the best part. We went on to Beale St. Pretty damn amazing. After a couple 'big ass beers' we hit all the music spots. We probably saw at least 6 bands. All kinds of blues...all good in their own right....harmonica blues hit the spot. I have come to realize that my teeth are not made for ribs...they are all squished together on the bottom (you know what I'm talking about, Dad), the grilled pig just gets caught up in there. I am now going to go floss.

Ah! I just figured out that you could comment. Excuse me, I am a little slow. I just wanted to let you know that I am following you across the country, so you have a loyal blog fan. Besides, looking at your pics and hearing about all the yummy food is way better than anything else I would do at work. I envy that you ate at a waffle house...that is still on my to do list. Anyway, can't wait to see y'all!

Did the "Big Ass Beer" stand sell T-shirts?

Hey guys, please save that floss. With a little one at home, it might be the closest I come to tasting Memphis style BBQ.
